"After 20 years in Oregon, my husband asked me where we should retire. I said it had to be warm, dry and sunny so after reading an article about Las Cruces, NM which proclaimed they had 350 days of sunshine a year, we began our research. Laura Szalay picked us up at our motel with a cooler of water bottles in the back seat and gave us our first warning about staying hydrated in the desert. We had corresponded and she knew what our situation was and what we were looking for and she had several homes lined up for us to see. We knew she was a graduate of NMSU and very active in the Rotary and other organizations, so we felt she was very knowledgeable about Las Cruces. Once meeting her in person we enjoyed her positive attitude and ability to understand our desires in a house. We only had a week to spend but were able to quickly narrow our choices and make a decision. A bonus is that we have developed a personal friendship and we still keep in touch with her which I have found to be a rare event in commercial transactions. She has even put us in touch with clients whom she thought we would be compatible since we were newcomers to Las Cruces and knew no one who lived here. This is our fifth house and we have never had a realtor that seemed to have such a “sixth sense” for what we wanted and could make the house buying experience so pleasant. We would highly recommend her to anyone desiring a knowledgeable and personable realtor who does her homework about the houses and you."
